- Performs routine nursing procedures and tasks related to patients within assigned area under the supervision of a nurse.
- Documents in the electronic health record as appropriate. This includes vital signs, activities of daily living, weight, intake/ output, and other basic task.
- Must be enrolled in one of the final two (2) semesters of a nursing program leading to an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Employment as a Nurse Intern may not extend beyond a twosemester period.
- Must maintain good standing in the school of nursing where enrolled.
- Must be able to use equipment essential for patient care and follow hospital guidelines for non-critical equipment cleaning.
- Must meet and maintain continuing education requirements.
- Maintains knowledge and resources necessary to provide age appropriate care.
- Must be able to recognize changes and abnormalities in the patient's condition and report to the registered nurse.
- Must be able to perform collect blood (by venipuncture), urine and sputum specimen.
- Must be able to perform point of care testing for glucose and occult blood.
- Must be able to insert simple urinary catheters with the assistant of other licensed nurse.
