- Plans directs, coordinates and evaluates quality of nursing care rendered to customers in accordance with hospital policies/procedures and criterion established b various legal and regulatory accrediting bodies
- Utilizes nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care.
- Responds immediately/appropriately to potentially life threatening incidents and operates all equipment in the patient care setting including but not limited to heart monitors, defibrillators, pacemaker, ventilator, pulse oximeter, non-invasive blood pressure monitor, and Doppler to implement emergency action indicated by patient's conditions
- Manages/oversees that departmental services are performed in a timely, efficient, cost-effective, confidential, professional manner conducive with the overall mission/vision of the hospital.
- Promotes and enforces departmental compliance with departmental policies/procedures, general safety, fire safety, emergency preparedness, and infection control standards.
- Assists with orientation/in-service, attends, demonstrate, and participate in required in-service, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL) and other educational programs
- Reliable attendance at work is essential for this job
- To fulfill the requirements of this position, the incumbent must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and currently licenses as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Licensure must be current, valid and in good standing. Proof of licensure required.
- BSN preferred.
- ASN or diploma with at least one-year experience in Medical/Surgical nursing required.
- Previous supervisory experience in Medical /Surgical setting preferred. BLS, ACLS required.
- Good communication sills highly desired to effectively communicate with inter and intra departmental. Employees, physicians and their office personnel and public.
- The incumbent must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills needed to proficiently provide care to a patient population to include : infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics none year minimum
