Job Purpose and Summary
This position provides support for an assigned district’s facilities maintenance operations of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Work involves planning and supervising the day-to-day work of professional trades workers to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of facilities. Work is performed with independence and reviewed by a supervisor for completion of service requests, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Assists in the supervision of internal and external staff involved in facilities maintenance activities.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Supervises trades workers through a District Supervisor in various facilities maintenance operations related to carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing programs/repairs.
Develops daily work schedules. Designates the staff and equipment needed to complete assignments.
Supervises preventative maintenance and repairs of access gates, emergency power systems, roadway lighting, HVAC systems, facilities structural repairs, and security/locksmithing/card access systems to ensure PTC facilities and support systems remain operational.
Prepares work orders for planned preventative, emergency, and property damage repairs.
Coordinates with the Maintenance Department for fleet repairs. Schedules Multi-Purpose Terminal (MPT) notifications and safety for roadway facilities operations.
Reviews and develops work documents, physical progress reports, and other activity documentation Maintains records of personnel, equipment, material costs, and other related data. Uses an enterprise system to track information and provide comprehensive reports.
Responds to daily internal/external customer requests and acts as a customer service representative with contractors and other departments/agencies. Converts maintenance service requests to work orders, assigning them to the proper trades worker(s).
Provides first-level support for mobile devices work management software used by trades workers. Assists with troubleshooting issues involving work processing, equipment processing, and time entry.
Participates in, or provides consultation to, committees, planning groups, special training and/or seminars.
Assists with Regional/District level facilities sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency projects.
Responds to emergencies and provides direction 24/7/365 when needed. Supervises trades workers engaged in inclement weather operations to ensure continuity of facilities and operations.
Assists with personnel related activities such as recruiting and onboarding new employees and processing accident/injury incidents.
Assumes the roles/duties of the District Facilities Supervisor when one is not available.
Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Trade school or associate degree. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.
- Six (6) years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or trades work. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license. Must obtain and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within six (6) months of employment.
