Director of Financial Aid

Seton Hill University, in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Financial Aid. Seton Hill University seeks a dynamic leader to serve in this important role.

The Director of Financial Aid will: administer and coordinate financial aid from federal, state, institutional, and private sources; participate in the submission of the Annual Application for Campus-based Federal Funding, the FISAP, IPEDS, Common Data Set and other surveys/reports, and prepare periodic reports on aid administered by the University; supervise the staff of the Financial Aid Office; establish policies, procedures, budgets, and strategies for the administration; and distribute various forms of student financial aid using the most up to date technology available.

The Financial Aid Office is located within the Office of Financial Services and Registrar Office (OFSR), which requires close coordination with the Student Accounts and Registrar’s staff to provide the best service to our students. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management; supervision of professional and hourly personnel is required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organize, administer, and manage the financial aid office. Hire, train, and evaluate Financial Aid staff.
    · Represent the University to the U. S. Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency concerning various grant, loan, and work- study programs.
    · Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
    · Manage, maintain, and update the financial aid software, PowerFaids, and Net Partner. Update Jenzabar One with annual updates regarding financial aid processing.
    · Maintain working relationships with various internal offices and outside organizations granting financial assistance to students.
    · Supervise preparation of financial aid offers to undergraduate and graduate students.
    · Administer the athletic scholarship program within NCAA Division II policies and regulations in conjunction with the Compliance Officer.
    · Choose recipients and award all endowed and restricted scholarships, based on the criteria determined by the scholarship donors.
    · Oversee the administration of the work study program.
    · Originate and disburse federal funds through EdConnect.
    · Process Special Consideration requests.
    · Perform R2T4 calculations and process any return of federal funds.
    · Integrate the financial aid process into enrollment management efforts in student recruitment and retention.
    · Communicate updates needed on the Financial Aid section of the website to Marketing.
    · Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress after each term.
    · Develop, implement, and revise policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and laws.
    · Work closely with independent auditors and ensure that all records and reports as requested are submitted in a timely manner.
    · Counsel student and families concerning financial aid.
    · Coordinate operations with the Student Accounts Office to ensure timely updating and posting on aid to student account records.
    · Enhance professional knowledge by attending conferences and webinars to keep abreast of new regulations and emerging practices.
    · Perform all other duties as required.

Qualifications:
· A bachelor’s degree.
· Significant experience in financial aid in a higher education environment.
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
· Ability to travel within the University community and externally to various locations.
